What We Believe

Assurance of Salvation: All those born again by the Spirit are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever. It is the privilege of all true believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word. John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom.  8:1, 38-39; I Pet. 1:4-5

Bible: The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. It is our sole and final authority in all matters of faith and practice. John 17:17; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21

Giving: Every believer, as a steward of that portion of God's wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to support his local church faithfully. God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but every believer should also give other offerings, sacrificially and cheerfully, to support the ministry of the church, the expenses of the church, the relief of those in need, and to the spread of the Gospel. Gen. 14:20; Prov. 3:9-10; Acts 4:34-37; I Cor. 16:2; 2 Cor. 9:6-7; Gal. 6:6; Eph. 4:28; I Tim. 5:17-18; I John 3:17

Human Sexuality: Legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. This church recognizes marriage as exclusively the legal union of one man and one woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment. Rom. 1:18-32; Gen. 2:21-24; Matt. 19:4-6; 1 John 2:1

Local Church: The local church is a group of believers baptized by water and banded together in unity and fellowship under the authority of God’s Word. The church consists of the people, wherever they meet, not buildings or property. It is established on the foundation of the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is both the Head of the church and the true Owner of the church, having purchased us with His own blood. Acts 20:28; Eph. 1:22-23; 3:20-21; Heb. 10:25

Man: Man was created in the image of God but fell through Sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is eternal separation from God. Now all of mankind exists as a fallen race with an inherited sinful nature. Gen. 2:16; 3:16-19; Rom. 3:10-23; 5:12; 6:23

Missions: God has given the church a great commission that has no geographical limits. We are to support missionaries and ministries that proclaim the Gospel and make disciples so that a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; Acts 1:8

Responsibility of Believers: Every believer, by the blood of Jesus, has been given direct personal access to God in prayer and in His Word. This privilege brings the responsibility of ministry to others, including intercessory prayer on their behalf. Col. 4:12; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 10:19-22; 1 Pet. 2:9; 4:10; Rev. 1:6

Salvation: Salvation is a gift from God, offered freely to sinful man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins and who rose again for our justification. To be saved from the penalty of sin and receive the free gift of eternal life, man must be born again by the Spirit through His Word, seeing Jesus as the only hope of salvation and trusting Him alone as Savior. Salvation in its entirety includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. John 1:12; 3:3-7; Acts 4:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-9; Phil. 3:20-21; 1 Pet. 1:18-19

Trinity: God exists eternally as a Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - in unity, without division in nature, essence, or being - three Persons and yet one God. Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14

  • God the Father reigns with providential care and by sovereign grace over His universe. He is Father in truth to all who have become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Gen. 1:1; Isa. 45:5-7; Matt. 6:26-30; Eph. 1:8
  • God the Son, Jesus Christ, is the second Person of the Trinity, the only begotten Son- of God, the Son of Man, the only Savior, begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary in order to reveal God and redeem sinful man. He suffered and died as a substitute payment for the sins of the whole world, was buried, rose again the third day, is now exalted at the right hand of the Father, and is coming again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Luke 1:30-55; John 1:1-18; 14:6; Acts 2:18-36; Phil. 2:5-8
  • God the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He is the Agent in regeneration, revealing Jesus to be the only hope of salvation, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling them at the moment of salvation, and sealing them until the day of redemption. He, as the Author of the Word, guides believers into the truth of His Word. He gives spiritual gifts to believers for the building of the church, enables them to mature toward the fullness of Christ, empowers them for godly living and service, and will lead them, in conformity to His Word, to bring glory to Jesus. John 16:8-14; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 2:12-14; I Cor. 12 &14; Eph. 1:13-14
